One-hundred grand...and counting!

A while ago I glanced down at the site counter (left-hand side, towards the bottom of the page) and noticed that the "original hits" count for this blog has finally rolled over past the six-figure mark. This doesn't actually reflect the entire visitor count, only the number of first-time visitors, and it doesn't even reflect the total number of those since the blog began in July 2006. (I installed that site counter on February 22 of last year.) Still, I thought it was a milestone worth noting. Now if only I had ten dollars for every one of those "first-timers," hey, I'd be a millionaire! Not that that is a particularly impressive achievement these days, but at least I'd be able to pay off my credit card debts and buy a few little things.

I would just like to say thank you to everyone, first-timers and old-timers, for visiting and participating in Whirled Musings. And in keeping with today's theme, such as it is, here's an oldie but goody. It could probably be updated by changing "million" to "trillion," and substituting all the talk of tree forts and emus and green dresses with a few lines about bailouts and buyouts and such. But it's a catchy little tune anyway.

PS ~ My own RevRon wrote one of his rare blog posts today.

*GROAN!* You're not a rabid BNL fan, are you? My Favorite Younger Sister has stalked them almost from the get-go. And her devotion was recently rewarded with the task of animating one of their kiddie songs:

The FYS even convinced my Favorite Parental Units to go on one of those BNL cruises a few years back. I tried to fundraise on my blog for a substantial bribe to get them to participate in the naked group photo, but they refused. Which is probably just as well....

Your sis does terrific work, Mojo.

I certainly wouldn't say I'm a rabid BNL fan, though I like 'em all right. They caught my eye back in 1991 or 1992 when they were still a pretty new band (I think they first got together in 1988 or so). I'd watch them on MuchMusic on the old Anik birds; this was back in the big-dish days, when MuchMusic was free. I was captivated by their first real album, "Gordon," but by the time they finally caught the attention of the mainstream US music world a few years later, I was a little bored with them. I still think they are terrifically talented, but as far as albums go, I honestly think "Gordon" was their best.

I didn't even know they did cruises. However eye-rolling that might seem to a non-BNL fanatic, I am willing to bet that a BNL cruise beats the heck out of one of those Bob Proctor Ship of Fools deals, or a cruise with Jerry and Esther Hicks, their imaginary pals Abraham, and a bunch of Law Of Attraction dweebs.

Yeah, back when she worked for Nick she was nommed two years in a row for a daytime Emmy.

Her husband's no slouch himself, by the way:

I've had BNL yapped in my ear for years, so I didn't even have to click on your link. My FYS made me a mix tape with mostly Gordon on one side and TMBG on the other, and I admit I really liked that tape. I was sorry when the car player ate it.

I had the honor of escorting my 70-year-old Favorite Mother to her first rock concert when the FYS got some tix to see BNL in Hartford, I think it was. She enjoyed it well enough. BNL attracts a pretty clean-cut crowd, so it wasn't like she was tripping over drunks and stoners the whole night. I agree with you--they're talented and all, and pleasant enough, but--eh--I could take or leave 'em.

But if given the choice to cruise with BNL, heck, yeah, I'd join into the naked group photo before even THINKING about attending any of the other cruise deals you mention.

Oh, and I *DID* intend to conga-rat you on the milestone, BTW. But I saw something shiny and got distracted. So a belated Grover-like whack on the back will have to suffice. WHACK!

No, Mojo, I think you should wear a hairshirt as punishment.

As in,
"...the hairshirt I wear, and this hairshirt is woven from your brown hair..."

Sorry.

Thanks for the congrats!

Well done Cosmic Connie, you deserve the million dollars. I would bet the people you are blogging about would love one too. Keep up the awesome work.

Champagne corks all round!

Nice blog. About those chickens with hands, found a great joke:

Where does a general keep his armies?

Up his sleevies.

From your keyboard to G_d's ears. Or to G_d.com. [Standard agnostic disclaimer applies ("that is, if there is a G_d.")]

Thanks for the compliments!
