Looks like KT blew off his hearing with the FTC, but they are cool with that, they asked him if maybe he wouldn't mind making an appointment with them on Dec 5th, if it isn't too much trouble for him of course. They understand how busy he is scamming gullible people, they wouldn't want to impose on him. Guess what, he's not a fugitive, there is no jail time pending and nobody on either side of this case seems to care about it as much as the victims of KT's scams.
~ Tim Donohoe, on a Facebook forum
Yeah, what my friend Tim said. As many may know by now, the latest development in the saga of Kevin Trudeau v the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is that there is yet another continuance, this time until December 5, 2012, at 10:00 AM. Trudeau is reportedly still in Switzerland, but all projections and speculations and excited buzz about his being a "fugitive" are apparently off base. Contrary to what I had been previously told (and I did actually ask, though apparently I didn't ask the right people), Trudeau is not required to be present at these scheduled hearings involving this civil case.
A criminal contempt case has been looming over his head in regard to this case -- that seems to be the part he's specifically fighting, in addition to that $37.6 million fine -- but essentially it is a civil case and, even though the fugitive scenario would make a more interesting story, at this point he simply is not officially a fugitive from justice. Since he has not been forbidden to travel outside the U.S., he is free to stay in Switzerland for the time being and continue to push his Global Information Network (GIN) scam throughout Europe and beyond.
Here's one of the bits that bothers me about that latest docket entry:
Trudeau's Motion to Strike Mora Declaration (Doc. 500) is granted in part. The court strikes and will ignore the portions of the Mora declaration that contain improper argument. What parts of Mora's argument will be considered "improper," I wonder? The bit about alleged money laundering in the casino? Or one of numerous other suspicious activities outlined in recent FTC briefs? (See link in next paragraph.) I breathlessly await the answer to that question.
And in case you are wondering who Mora is, that would be one Michael P. Mora, Attorney for the Plaintiff, the Federal Trade Commission. You can see one of the relevant recent documents (10/15/12) here: http://saltydroid.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Kevin-Trudeau-Fake-Poor.pdf
Not being a legal eagle, I wondered what a "sur-reply" is, so I looked it up. Here is what I found:
Well, that clears things up! It sounds to me like just more b.s. and paper shuffling and stalling. This could go on indefinitely, and probably will.Sur-reply is an additional reply to a motion filed after the motion has already been fully briefed. For example, a legal document such as a motion is filed by one party (filing party) requesting the court to enter an order. The other party (responding party) responds to the motion. The filing party then replies to the responding party's response. Some courts allow the responding party to file a sur-reply to the filing party's reply to the responding party's response.
After all, this one case has been going on since 2003. I have in my possession a PDF of the docket from 2003 through October 30, 2012, which was the date that the continuance was granted till November 20, 2012. So far that document is 51 pages long -- 51 pages! -- which, for those who like to keep track of these things, is nearly as long as a 2007 police report for one of Trudeau's most infamous ex-b.f.f.s.
For the past several months, that former b.f.f. has been rooting for Trudeau's arrest and/or the end of GIN, and he has been making constant inaccurate predictions about when it will all occur. His current line, given the most recent round of continuances, is that the FTC is useless, that the American justice system is corrupt, and that he and another ex-KT buddy wasted several months of their precious time cooperating with the FTC in their efforts to get justice for KT's victims (and they apparently include themselves among those vics).
Whenever I see anything from ex-KT buds implying that they are trying to help the real victims of Trudeau's scamming ways, I am reminded of OJ Simpson vowing to find Nicole and Ron's real killer. (Here's a satirical piece on that.) I really wish the ex-KT buds would just cut the crap and admit they are out for themselves and that their agenda is twofold: revenge against their former cash cow (not the noblest of reasons, but understandable), and promotion of their own schemes and scams (not at all noble, and in fact pretty smarmy, in my opinion, particularly since they are targeting those who have already been hurt by GIN).
But then again, what do I know? After all, I am just a neurotic nobody with a need for "artifial" recognition and a Napoleon complex -- a person who has never done anything of substance, and is not even educated or intelligent enough to grasp the big picture on anything in life. Or so says a self-proclaimed expert on these matters, and he has the fake Ph.D.'s in psychology to back his assertions!

As for Kevin Trudeau, he's a slippery one, as I've noted several times on this blog and on various Facebook forums. There are almost never any neat and tidy endings to these Scamworld sagas. (Salty Droid gives some perspective here and here.)
Admittedly, I too have gotten caught up in the End-Times-for-GIN frenzy. Some of that was a bit premature. But from a larger perspective it doesn't matter. I stand by my original assertions about Kevin Trudeau and GIN, which I have been blogging about since 2009: Trudeau is a serial scammer, GIN is a huge scam, and even if Trudeau continues to get away with this and his many other scams, that is not an exoneration at all. Contrary to what some of Trudeau's most passionate defenders assert, the continued survival of GIN does not prove that Trudeau and GIN are legitimate. The continued survival of GIN, and Trudeau's continued freedom to scam, will be nothing more than another indication that the big, sick machine has plenty of fuel and plenty of strength -- because, unfortunately, there will always be more scammers, more suckers, and more watchdogs who are either unwilling or have been rendered unable to do their jobs.
But jeez... a 51-page docket, just for one civil case against Kevin Trudeau. Knowing Trudeau and his long history of dodgy business dealings, it is reasonable to assume that this is just one of many, many cases against him. So if you've been holding your breath waiting for immediate "justice" in this case, you can start breathing again. And whatever you do, don't listen to the siren songs of the ex-KT buds who pretend to be looking out for your best interests. No matter how much smoke they blow up your a$$ and how enthusiastically they "edify" you, some of these people are, IN MY OPINION, just as bad as, if not worse than, Kevin Trudeau.

ReplyDeleteOne thing not mentioned is the sense of unease that the likes of Trudeau and his kind must feel.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that they sleep easy in their beds whilst being under constant investigation and with the dark shadow of prosecution hovering above.
Can it really be that they are possessed of such arrogance that they feel themselves immune to the consequence of their actions?
I just left Gin. I had NO idea of all the BS going on, until I got an email from Coldwell in November, and believe it or not, the supposed GIN council for me to watch 41 News. Not sure what Gin was thinking.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I was a level ONE only for almost 2 years, just using the tools, never recruiting anyone and the info was good. I must say, however, that the cloak hiding the truth was huge. This is why I ask you don't demean us any further than we already feel since discovering we'd been had. The GIN concept was wonderful. But the greed from KT and his ilk has my stomach turning since I read the court docs..THAT HE KEPT SECRET! Dang!!
After I joined, I saw a ktradio transmission where Kevin chatted with ( I believe, not sure ) Fred Van Liew where Kevin said on air "hahahah we got away with cheating the criminal IRS of $3 MILLION. hahahaha, it is too late for them to follow up". Almost those words. Anyway, I looked up on his youtube channel "irs, fred van liew" and it seems April 20, it's either 2008 or 2009 ( sorry, I don't have time to recheck) but that date is where his youtube video is only 20 minutes. HMMMM .. EDITING here???
Please stop calling us losers, dupes, koolaid drinkers, sheep, or any other derogatory name. That makes you look like the crap. We ALL have been duped at some time in our lives. That makes us feel worse than ever when we now admit we have been had and it makes you look like $%*&. Stop the pain..
Anyway, CosmicConnie, please keep us informed. I await news updates with baited breath. No kidding.
NOTE: I have read blogs where GIN members quit GIN but still get billed monthly. Um.. You need to DELETE YOUR BILLING INFORMATION FIRST, first first! Click out of the window, then fast, go back and quit GIN. I did this and have NOT been billed. This is a MUST do to NOT get continual billing.
Peace to all.
Could be he doesn't experience fear, or even arrogance, in the same way as most people.
ReplyDeleteChang, I don't believe that people like Trudeau experience the "unease" you describe - at least, not in the way that most people do. A narcissistic sociopath like Trudeau is more likely to have an grandiose self-image, believing his own intelligence is so superior to that of his pursuers that the confrontation is more a game to him than a threat. He probably believes that even if his pursuers get too close, he will always have an escape hatch, through which they cannot follow him. And the sad thing is, he may well be right, since he has probably structured his entire career upon the contingency that he might one day have to avail himself of his "Plan B," the success of which would, in his eyes, still constitute a victory.
ReplyDeleteFailing in that ultimate endeavor, I suspect he would be a prime candidate for a significant breakdown, as is so common when an individual with a severe personality disorder discovers that his self0identity can no longer be sustained.
Saturday anon- It's really too bad that you were duped, as were many others. I know Connie well enough that she doesn't demean victims, period. Now, those victims who go on to victimize others, or who are so defensive about being fooled that they feel compelled to attack her for pointing it out? Fair game, as far as I'm concerned. If you don't fit into either of those two groups, you've got nothing to complain about where her reporting is concerned.
ReplyDeleteSaturday Anon: What Ron said. It is not my intention to make any of those who were duped feel bad -- although I do not mind tweaking some of those who are cooking up schemes with substitute hucksters such as the little Teutonic twerp I've blogged about.
ReplyDeleteAnd as a matter of fact over the past few months I have developed more compassion and respect for some of the GIN members who joined with higher ideals in mind. It appears to me that the people who are slinging the most demeaning words now are some of the ex-GIN members on Facebook, but they mostly seem to be reserving their ire for the people who continue to stay in GIN despite the growing body of evidence that it is a huge con.
Regarding the court docs that Trudeau kept "secret": Trudeau has ALWAYS spun his legal troubles as a big battle of good versus evil, with himself as the "good" and the government as "evil," of course. But many of the court documents have long been available on the FTC site and on other sites. I am not talking about Bernie O'Mahony's recently created GINtruth.com, nor about Salty Droid's recent blog posts about Trudeau. I am talking about the FTC site, numerous legal blogs and sites, and the wonderful Smoking Gun web site. Those are resources external to Trudeau's organization and fairly easily found for anyone who had cared to do some research.
If I seem a little harsh at times, it is because I sometimes get annoyed by the fact that I have been blogging constantly about Trudeau and GIN since 2009 -- and for my efforts I mostly got hate mail from the GIN believers and KT fans who even bothered to read my blog posts. I tried numerous times to warn people on some of the GIN Facebook forums and for my efforts got dissed and my posts were removed. So you will understand if I am a little short on sympathy sometimes for some of the GIN believers and even some of the ex-believers.
The thing is, though, that I do understand that any one of us has the capacity to be duped, fooled, persuaded to do things that are not in our best interest. And as I have noted numerous times before, a big part of my understanding of this fact has come from my participation on Salty Droid's blog. Salty is very harsh with people who 'blame the victims' or try to rub their noses in it -- whether they are victims of financial predation or sexual predation or both.
I do thank you for writing and sharing your perspectives. And congratulations for getting out of GIN.
Hello, I am the Saturday Anonymous (Dec. 1, 12) person.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your side of the story, I appreciate that. I'm hoping people and other ex GIN members will see the truth as well.
Mary Kay, Shaklee, and other MLMs had been successful in the past, but not my thing, so I didn't think twice about this being a scam. The tools and information were good. I guess I see now that I could have gotten the same stuff all over the internet, but this club put all that same stuff together in one place. So it was ideal for me, and others.
I also was alerted to the Health Freedom Expo by this group. I had a wonderful time there with my son, and we met superb businesses who really want to make a difference. I'll be honest, Trudeau's booth was poorly maintained. Often with no one there to talk to. Dr. C had been surrounded by so many people for his book signings. But I enjoyed all the vendors.
Ok, so with all that, you can get the picture of how so many good hearted people with ideals of wanting to make a difference in this difficult world decided GIN would be a great thing to join. For the betterment of others and self.
When I recently got that email from Dr. C and read the FTC documents, I felt like a piano fell on me from the 4th floor. I just wanted to shrink to the size of a mouse. I cried, I got angry, I wanted to go find him and flip him the derogatory salut.
I began to search the internet for things like "GIN Scam" and "Trudeau Fraud". I am not computer savvy. It took me days to find GINTruth and then yours, Connie. I didn't know you existed until just a few weeks ago.
With all the raw feelings, hence came my very first post in your comments. This is my second.
My suggestion to anyone else who is in GIN, see with your eyes the documents and know that if you deny what is happening, you will lose more $$, time and possibly be looked at by the FTC or other alphabet agencies for your role in GIN. That doesn't mean in a bad way, but do you really want to spend the time dealing with them simply because you are still a member? Just remember to DELETE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO FIRST!!! Then click the cancel membership button. Within seconds, you will be removed as GIN and placed as an affiliate. I stayed as an affiliate until I was sure I wasn't billed anymmore because I still had access to the billing page.
For ex GIN members, just inform current members of this stuff and then BACK OFF! They will find their way in their own time. You aren't superman to save them all. Let them learn their own way so it sticks with them for the lesson. No need to be like KT and call names.
Finally, onlookers into all this. Thanks for your blogs, comments, advice and even criticism when it is appropriate (ex: telling me to eat dust is NOT appropriate).
I personally will cherish the good things I did get out of GIN but learn the harsh lessons of what I didn't get out of GIN. Let my experience, and those of other ex members who talk about it, be your teacher. There is no shame in being lied to (duped)except to the liar. But if you start seeing things that don't make sense, just look back to the past and see if things don't add up and then follow your gut (KT's admission to defrauding IRS, his excuses as to why he went to jail as a youth cuz he still went to jail even if he says he was just a dumb kid, his recent derogatory statements to fat people or poor people, his begging for $$ when he claims he's a billionaire, non payment of GIN promises, etc).
Thanks for letting me vent a 2nd time, Connie. I wish you, and everyone else a happy life with being as positive as possible in any given situation.
I await the Dec. 5 update on KTs court case. I got chills in anticipation... Until it gets delayed again. LOL
Peace to all!
Congratulations to the citizens of Washington state, BTW. Clearly, being civilised is important in some areas of the Western world.
ReplyDeleteNot that that is entirely on topic, but still isn't it interesting that there are voices coming from political establishments that indicate a change is afoot in drug policy globally, possibly.
ReplyDeleteMary Kay, Shaklee, and other MLMs had been successful in the past, but not my thing, so I didn't think twice about this being a scam
ReplyDeleteAnd that was your mistake right there. There is no such thing as a 'legitimate' MLM. The business model is inherently untenable unless you're right at the top of the pyramid.
http://www.vandruff.com/mlm.html
And Mary Kay successful? Really?
http://www.pinktruth.com/
Sheila, Saturday Anon said that s/he wasn't in GIN for the MLM, just for the tools and information that were "good". That's why s/he didn't look into MLM because it wasn't his/her thing. Mary Kay has been around probably longer than you, so I can see how it seems successful. This person admitted to lessons learned and it really isn't nice that you rub it in with your self righteousness saying, "Mary Kay successful? Really?". Your "Really?" is what irks me the most and Sat. Anon did say "successful in the past". I feel the pain of this person and am grateful that s/he gave POSITIVE insight and suggestions. THAT'S where we need to reflect, not the finger pointing to human frailties.
