I've modified some of the text in this post to clarify some points about the Court of Appeals decision.

As you may know if you've been following this
blog for a few years, one of my favorite slogans, and a constant
theme that runs throughout many of the posts, is: "No neat and tidy endings," or NNaTE, as my friend Julie Daniel abbreviates it. In
Scamworld, as in most of real life, there are very rarely neat
endings to any story, or to any scam as the case may be. Some
stories and scams just go on and on and on.
So perhaps a group of three appellate court judges were being a
tad optimistic when they began their December 29, 2016 opinion,
regarding some business interests of imprisoned serial scammer Kevin Trudeau (aka KT, aka
Katie) with the suggestion that their decision marked the close
of a very long chapter. As the Chicago Tribune reported earlier this month:
Even getting sent to prison for a
decade in 2014 by a Chicago judge for lying didn't shut the
smooth-talking pitchman up, or put an end to his seemingly
inexhaustible legal battles.
But now — 18 years after he was first pursued by the
Federal Trade Commission for his fraudulent claims —
Trudeau's case is finally toast, U.S. Court of Appeals judges
are praying.
"This decision marks the end of litigation about Kevin
Trudeau's frauds — or so we hope," Seventh Circuit
Judge Frank Easterbrook
wrote in an opinion published last week.
The decision wasn't whether or not to keep
Katie in prison, where he is serving ten years on charges of
criminal contempt related to deceptive claims in infomercials for
his diet book, Weight Loss Secrets They Don't Want You to
Know About. That conviction and sentence have already been
appealed, and he lost the appeal last year around the time of his
birthday, as reported on this blog.
Never a quitter, Katie took his fight all the way to the Supreme
Court of the United States -- or, rather, he tried to. That was a wash too. As far as
I know, SCOTUS didn't even bother with an explanation as to why
they didn't care to hear his case; they just issued this:
But the December 29 decision concerned one of Katie's
dozens of companies, Website Solutions, which along with his
other assets whose existence was known to the court, was put
under receivership in 2013. At some point Website Solutions hired
their own law firms to represent it in responding to Federal
Trade Commission (FTC) demands to turn over business records, and
those firms later demanded that they be paid from the
receivership funds. The district court determined that because
Website Solutions was, as the business records revealed, indeed
part of Trudeau's assets and therefore subject to receivership,
any and all profits from that business must be used for
restitution to the customers who'd been scammed by the
weight-loss book.
After the receiver had collected about $8 million it submitted a
plan to the district court to distribute the funds to victims. The court approved the distribution plan, and
also determined that Website Solution's law firms -- Hogan Marren
Babbo & Rose, Ltd.; and Faruki Ireland & Cox, P.L.L. --
were not entitled to compensation from the receivership
estate. All that money was slated to go to victims, not lawyers.
The law firms appealed the denial, and their appeal was in turn
denied on December 29.
I found it amusing that the appellate judges also suggested a
couple of strategies that Website Solutions' law firms might have
used to at least give themselves and their client a fighting chance. From Bloomberg BNA's January 5 article on the matter:
The court noted that neither the firms
nor Website Solutions sought court approval for the firms’
engagement or their “proposed course of conduct,” and
that ultimately their actions were more obstructive than
helpful to the receiver’s efforts.
The court also pointed out that the firms may have sought
recovery of fees related to complying with the receiver’s
discovery requests under Federal Rules of Civil Procedure,
Rule 45(d)(3)(C)(ii). That section permits a court under
certain circumstances to order reasonable fees for complying
with a subpoena request.
Some folks sure waste a lot of money on
lawyerly incompetence; have you noticed? When it happens to good
people that's an outrage, but when it's a
scammer whose money is squandered, it's really kind of funny..

but if you don't feel like wading through old blog posts, try this link to find previous

"Kevin Trudeau" and you'll find a few decisions that in
their own way helped pave Katie's road to Federal sleepaway camp.
I should note, as I have on previous posts, that whether it has
finally come to a close or not, the entire 18-plus years of legal
actions by the FTC (and, later, the U.S. Attorney) against Kevin
Trudeau were for various and sundry frauducts and
flopportunities, but not for the biggest scam of all,
the Global Information Network, or
GIN. As I've written before, thousands of people were bilked out
of millions of dollars during GIN's heyday, and although a
reading of some of the many court documents makes it pretty
obvious that Trudeau's actions regarding GIN had some influence
on the judges' decisions, the court actions that sent Trudeau to
prison were not directly related to GIN at all. People who were
scammed by GIN and unable to get a refund a few years ago, but
are still expecting some sort of compensation, will probably have
a long, long wait.
Of course this doesn't mean that there won't be any
lawsuits about Katie's mega-scam, so for that and other reasons
those circuit judges were justified in adding, "or so we
hope," to their speculation that their decision marked an
end to Trudeau-related litigation. For if there's one thing you
learn on this beat, it's that you just can't keep a good scammer
down, and indeed the Chicago Trib article I linked to
above noted as much:
On Facebook last week, Trudeau's
backers continued to solicit donations to his legal defense
fund from his 29,000 followers, promising them they could
"DOUBLE YOUR MONEY."
And in a pre-Christmas message presumably relayed through
supporters from his cell at the Montgomery, Alabama federal
prison camp, Trudeau told his fans he would "share 2
secrets that will give you success in every area of your
life."
If they followed his advice, the convicted fraudster,
formerly of Oak Brook, wrote, they would "vibrate
frequencies that will allow you to create the life you
want."
The article also mentioned Trudeau's boasts
about predicting Donald Trump's victory, a matter that I wrote about last July (back when there still seemed to be a chance that Trump
might lose). The Trib writer duly noted that Trudeau had
written that he was confident about a Trump victory because
"the overwhelming energy of the people is consistent with
Trump's vibration."
Not this people, I hasten to add, and not tens of
millions of other people, but I quibble. Not surprisingly many of
Trudeau's fans are also Trump fans, and some have expressed hopes
that Trump will pardon Trudeau once he gets in office. The Trib
writer noted that one of the folks on the short list for
Trump's Supreme Court pick is none other than Diane Sykes, one of the judges
who signed off on the December 29 decision. Of course that
doesn't rule out a presidential pardon. Turds of a feather, you
know...
And speaking of not being able to keep a good scammer down, you
can't keep an incompetent one down either. On a January 4, 2017 post on Katie's Facebook page, one of Katie's surrogates wrote:
Kevin has a legal right to a defense
fund. The Law firm that has been defending him is Winston and
Strawn LLP. Proceeds from the fund go directly to the LAW
FIRM.
As you can see either by following the link above
or looking at the screen grabs below, a few folks responded,
mostly with words of support, on the day the post was published, or shortly thereafter.
But early today (January 16), little Lenny Coldwell, cancer
quack, fraudster and bigot extraordinaire, jumped
in (under one of his phony names, "Eyn Rand") to slam
Katie and promote himself, repeatedly and semi-literately.
FYI, Lenny can't write under his main Facebook profile at the
moment because once again he has been suspended for hate speech. But as he often does, here he demonstrates the old saying about pots and kettles. And once again... NNaTE.
On Monday, 5 December 2016, the Supreme Court of the United States determined that
it will not hear the criminal appeal of imprisoned serial scammer
Kevin Trudeau, aka KT, aka Katie on
this blog. In July Trudeau petitioned the SCOTUS to hear his
case, hoping that they would overturn his criminal contempt
conviction and ten-year prison sentence.
Without comment, SCOTUS let stand a 5 February ruling by the
federal appeals court in Chicago. The appeals court had upheld
Katie's November 2013 conviction and March 2014 sentencing (as reported here in February of this year).
The conviction and sentence were not for Trudeau's
mega-scam the Global Information Network, or GIN, which in its heyday bilked thousands of folks out of
millions of dollars, because... well, the FTC is pretty slow
about getting around to these things. Instead the case was about
deceptive claims Trudeau had made in infomercials about his diet
book, The Weight Loss Cure "They" Don't Want You to
Know About, after having signed consent decrees promising
that he would stop lying in infomercials. The case had dragged
out for decades and cost millions of dollars.
I first shared the link to Trudeau's petition
to SCOTUS on this July 2016 post (under the
sub-head, "Katie and the Supremes"). A couple of months
later I shared the link again on this post (under
"Caged Katie and his fellow scammer").
Here's a direct link to the petition.
After losing his appeal in February, Katie was
clearly holding out hopes that SCOTUS would set him free. The
promotions he has been running from "Camp Cupcake" via
social media all centered around donating to his legal fund to
help pay for his high-dollar attorneys to keep working on his
behalf.
Sometimes, though, even money can't buy you freedom.
On the other hand, Katie has been getting a lot of social media
mileage out of the martyr creds he has gained
since he's been on the inside, and he has become quite the "spiritual" leader. Besides, he has often said that he is perfectly
content being at Camp Cupcake, aka Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Montgomery (Alabama). I guess SCOTUS was paying attention and decided to
bestow mercy upon him by totally rebuffing him.
But hey, maybe Herr Drumpf will pardon Katie
when Drumpf assumes the throne of the United States. Turds of a feather...
Though still languishing in Camp Cupcake, aka
minimum-security cage FPC Montgomery (Alabama), awaiting the
results of his appeal (more about that momentarily), serial scammer Kevin Trudeau (aka KT, aka Katie) and his buds are busy
keeping his legacy alive. GIN,
the Global Information Network, seems
to still be humming along (complete with a single-level Referral
Bonus Program, if the current Member Agreement is any indication), and Katie is still dictating the inspirational
nonsense for his
Facebook fan page.
And then there's the infamous baccarat scam, visited some time
back on Omri's Glancingweb, and mentioned a few times here as well. For nearly two weeks and possibly longer, a sponsored
link has graced the Facebooks, popping up on the right-hand side
of the screen on various pages, timelines, and forums with
Katie's smiling face. I first noticed it on January 6. It leads
to a site called Baccarat Revealed, which is
owned and operated by Katie's UK cohort Lee Kenny, who remains, for
the most part, out of reach of the U.S. Feds. Currently the
baccarat flopportunity is going for $297 US, though the site
claims that it has "sold consistently for over a year at
$997."
But the thing that really made me open my eyes was something I
saw on Facebook the other day: a promo for Katie's
much-talked-about Infomercial Secrets course, for which, claim
the promoters, many people have paid $50,000. And now it can be
yours for... are you sitting down?... only $997 (there's that
magickal Interwebz marketing number again!).
The promo popped up on my feed because it was shared by one of my
Facebook friends via a
page called StartUpPlan UK. Oddly
enough, the promo now seems to be missing from the page; maybe
they got a little bit too much flak about it. StartUpPlanUK is a
little cagey about some of their information; instead of sharing
the URL to their web site, you have to ask for the URL.
Anyway, the original promo leads to this web site, which is also
pretty cagey about its ownership and origins. However, if you
follow the "Add to Cart" link you will see that it is a
UK URL. My first guess was that Lee Kenny is also behind this
one. There don't seem to be any links to company-specific
"legal" pages on the main promo page. But if you go to
the payment page there are links at the bottom of the page to
Paypal legal pages.
My other guess is that anything that benefits
Lee -- whether it's the baccarat scam or the infomercial scam --
will ultimately benefit Kevin personally and will more than
likely remain out of reach of the Feds.
Looking at the URL of the main site, I noticed it's
a Kajabi URL, about which our pal Salty Droid has had a few things
to say.
My friend Kenneth, former GIN member and Katie
fan, tells me he watched a part of that course and got a glimpse
into Katie's unethical marketing strategies. He said Katie shows
you how to sell something by playing on people's insecurities and
weaknesses, and says Katie stresses that even if you have a great
product, folks aren't going to want it unless it meets some
emotional need. Well, that's pretty much the way Scamworld works.
(I know it's pretty much the way most consumer marketing works,
and has for decades -- particularly in the cosmetics and
personal-care products industries -- but it's still
reprehensible.) That's prolly the crux of the Infomercial
Secrets message, anyway: appeal to people's emotions,
especially their negative or baser ones. The rest will no doubt
just be Katie gabbing about logistics and so forth -- information
that he claims is "25 years in the making," but some of
which may be outdated.
What probably isn't mentioned in Infomercial Secrets is
that his infomercials were what landed Katie in nearly two
decades of the legal troubles that ultimately got him into Camp
Cupcake, a place from which, despite his joyous screeds on
Facebook, he is fighting desperately to escape.
Escape from Camp Cupcake... will it happen, and if
so, when?
Meanwhile, as noted and quoted in my previous blog post, Katie's legal defense team is furiously working on the
appeal. On Katie's Facebook page yesterday (January 17, 2015) there

Hello All. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Holiday

and Holiday wishes I have had the privilege and honor of
receiving over the last months. I am deeply humbled and
appreciative of all your love and support. I return the love
and positive energy to you! As you know I have appealed my
conviction of contempt of court, (because I am 100%
innocent), and I appealed the 10 year sentence as being
excessive for contempt of court. (10 years is one of the
longest, if not THE longest sentence for contempt of court in
the history of America). Contempt of Court is NOT a felony,
nor even a misdemeanor.
All the briefs have been submitted. You can

Now I wait. The appeal is being heard by a panel of 3
appellate judges. They will rule and make a decision any time
now, although it could take up to 18 months before they make
a decision. I have a feeling I will hear the decision by the
middle to end of the year, although it could be sooner than
that or later.
I am asking the appeals court to overturn the verdict of
guilty and issue a complete acquittal (not guilty) on the
grounds that the government had the burden of proof to show
that I KNEW I was violating the order when I made the
infomercials and I KNEW I was committing a crime (instead of
my belief that I was exercising my First Amendment Rights,
which is what I 100% believed I was doing). They government
provided absolutely NO evidence as to my intent or state of
mind and NO evidence that I KNEW I was committing a crime.
Thus I SHOULD be found not guilty, because I am innocent.
IF the appeals court does not acquit me, then we are asking
that the case be dismissed because the Government violated
the Speedy Trial Act by not bringing the case to trial within
the time frame under the Act.
If the appeals court does not dismiss the case as requested,
then we are asking them to order a new trial because Judge
Guzman did not allow me to use my belief in the First
Amendment as a defense. I was forbidden to even say the words
First Amendment in court. He also would not allow me to show
all the evidence I had proving that I am innocent. (it is all
explained in the court briefs we submitted).
Thus a new trial should be ordered where I will be allowed to
show ALL the evidence PROVING my innocence.
If the appeals court does not allow for a new trial, then we
are asking them to reduce the sentence from 10 years to a max
of 6 months because the original Judge who issued the order
to show cause for contempt said this was to be
"treated" as a misdemeanor with a max of 6 months
incarceration if found guilty.
Whatever happens is perfect.. There are no good or bad
outcomes other than OUR thinking makes it so. Remember, 99%
of all is off the radar screen. What we might THINK is the
best outcome, might not actually be for our highest good.
Simply know that all IS perfect, as Source/God is ALL things.
Everything is one. Thus, perfection at ALL times.

"Natural Cures" scampire years ago (which was actually launched to feed his legal defense, according to court documents), and consumers are

"recurring" payments, and then not being able to
disentangle themselves from the scheme when they want. Here's one of the best-known sites that has complaints
about Trudeau. Presumably the current
scheme, sponsored by the Legal Defense Fund that was
formed some after the receiver took over, is tied in somehow to
the Feds, so that proceeds will go towards his legal defense, and
anything left over will go towards paying down Katie's FTC massive
fine... but you never know.
Still... does anyone really believe that Katie has any
new seekrit information to offer?

My appeal oral arguments have been set for Feb 24th in front
of 3 Appellate Judges in Chicago. It is not open to the
public. But the audio recording will be up on the 7th Cir
Court website within a few days of Feb 24th. (you can read

I have a ton of work but am determined

I've said my piece about that for the time being, and even though
I'm not going to give up on this subject, there are so many other
more interesting and more important topics to blog about. So. Even
though it has been a busy month, work-wise, I am going to make
good on my promise to post updates about the saga of imprisoned serial scammer Kevin Trudeau, aka KT, aka Katie, as well as some
of the folks who are struggling to keep his legacy alive while he cools his heels at Club Fed. Or Camp Cupcake, as he calls his new home at Federal
Prison Camp in Montgomery, Alabama.
The gushing (and eye-rolling) posts on
Katie's Facebook fan page continue,
most of them first-person homilies that lately seem to be
seriously pandering to the New-Agey Law of Attraction crowd.
Trudeau seems to be sounding more and more like a New-Age ninny,
as opposed to some of the earlier Facebook posts when he appeared to be pandering to the more traditionally
religious believers in miracles and such. The messages for the posts are still presumably being
sent via email to, and then posted by, Katie proxies such as his
long-time business associate and ex-girlfriend Janine.
Occasionally, however, one of his cronies will pop on and talk
about going to visit Katie in the clink, marveling at the fact
that he is in such good spirits and is An Inspiration to All of
Us, and is really Walking the Talk and Living the Training and so
forth.
For instance, Earlene Vining, cohort of
staunch Trudeau loyalist Ed
Foreman, recently posted this, which
looks like an attempt at free-verse poetry but may just be an
unfortunate line-break glitch (as usual, click to enlarge):
"Kevin is a bright
Star in all of our lives..."
Do I hear the sound of some of you gagging?
And every few days there's a blurb about an
upcoming legal fundraiser for Katie that will take place in
Colorado on October 23, 2014. (Here's a link to a September 24 promo post on Facebook.) If you make a contribution of "only $200"
to the Defense Fund, you'll get a complimentary ticket to the big
rally that will be hosted by Katie's pal Coach Coral (Grant,
formerly Thomas). Coral is currently being flogged as Trudeau's
"protege," who "does not do public speaking
engagements so this is a very rare opportunity to spend time with
Coral live and in person." Which is utter bull crap. Coral, whom I've mentioned a few times on my blog (particularly here) reportedly has a deal
with Katie that she gets to milk his brand for all it's worth
(and it's still worth quite a lot, apparently) if she contributes
an agreed-upon amount to his defense fund.
Kevin himself, through his proxy/proxies, continues to pile it on
thick, as indicated by this September 16 bit of inspiration:
Everyone likes/desires/wants different
things. That is why there are menus at restaurants! LOL
Some people LOVE to skydive, or ski, or scuba dive, or
garden, or paint, or play tennis, or watch horror films, or
read terrifying novels. I personally do not LOVE any of those
and might even HATE some of those. I like/love challenging my
physical/mental/and emotional limits be it hiking for days
with limited food and no shelter! Or being attacked by the US
Government and having all my possessions taken away! Or being
thrown in a jail cell for 23 hours a day for months not
knowing when or if you will ever be let out! [Apparently
this is a reference to his experiences at MCC, not Camp

ever been! The list could go on and on. These are MY desires.
The point is we all want/love/desire different things,
experiences and conditions. There is no right and wrong, or
good, better and best when it comes to desires/wants or
things you love. You love and get pleasure from certain
things, and I love and get pleasure from perhaps the things
YOU hate, or scare you the most. Many people however, are not
deliberate creators of their life's experiences. Most people
do not consciously choose what they experience in their life.
Most people are not focusing on their preferences or what
they decided they love/want/desire. And most people are not
focusing on WHY they want these things/experiences in their
lives. When you focus on what you want and WHY you want it,
(instead of HOW you are going to get it), you will be happier
and you WILL manifest what you want. Many people ask WHY I
would want to experience what I am experiencing. The answer
is simple. I LOVE this! You see, my desire is to teach, to
share. (this is my destiny as decided on by ME long
ago...longer than you realize) In order to teach and share
with complete effectiveness, I must KNOW, not just KNOW
ABOUT. I must have DONE what I am to teach. And I must first
HAVE what it is I want to share. VERY few people will ever
feel the desire or have the joy I (and others throughout
history) have for living these type of experiences. When you
are taught by someone who KNOWS (experienced it firsthand)
you can then truly learn because YOU then experience it
vicariously through that teacher. You virtually learn via
osmosis. This is why throughout history, Guru's, Sages,
Enlightened Ones, Saints, Masters etc have had such a
profound impact on those who were READY, and physically close
to the one who KNOWS. I am doing my part. I am going
"places" you will never want to go, and
experiencing things you will never want to experience first
hand. I am increasing that which I KNOW. I will be out and
among you sometime between mid next year and 2022! LOL The
Universe KNOWS the best and perfect HOW and WHEN. If you are
ready, the sky is the limit for you, and the best is yet to
come!

In other words (if I'm reading this right),
Katie's time in the clink is turning him into a gen-yoo-ine
spiritual guru. All the better to reach his hand into
your wallet teach you stuff when he gets out -- that is,
if you're ready to be taught. When the mark
student is ready, the con man master will
appear. To date that post has 763 likes, 112 shares, and 118
comments. A woman who calls herself "Lena Lemurian" (I
sense that is not her real name) responded to Kev's message with
a magickal incantation:
I intend for Kevin Trudeau to be
released and I see him released within the year and so it is.
I'm not so sure those intentions and whatnot
are very effective. Remember that group mediation for Katie that took place about a
year ago? Not so effective in getting
him cleared of all charges, was it?
In response to the September 16 post a man wrote:
How do you go for days without food or

Well, I too am glade for Kevin that he's
good and getting gooder. Speaking of Glade, they've come out with
their fall collection and holiday
scents, and even though that stuff is probably really bad for
you, I fall for the marketing every year. It makes Ron roll his
eyes, but it sure beats litter box odor.
But I digress. Katie also had this September 26 message for the troops:
Thank you for all your continued love
and support. Please know I am more than good here at Federal
Prison Camp Montgomery. I am the best I have ever been. And
getting better. My appeal has been filed. I should get the
decision sometime next year.
As my dear friend Sam points out, I am not attached to any
outcome, so I yield to the Universe and am allowing the
perfect manifestation of my personal goals/dreams/desires in
the WAY Source knows is best. My desires are not about
myself, they are about you, society, the planet, and the
universe. Peace, harmony, love, and all people feeling the
deepest contentment and appreciation for all experiences is
one of my visions. My desires are my desires. They are not
your desires. Mine are right for me alone. Yours are right
for you alone. All our choices, preferences,
desires/dreams/goals are always right for each of us. Do not
try to force YOUR desires, or your ways of living on others.
You will just live with frustration and never be truly at
peace/contentment or experience true inner total bliss. Many
wonder about my situation and make all kinds of assumptions.
Consider stop looking at others and judging, condemning,
assuming things, and criticizing their conditions and they
way they choose to go through this game we call life and the
situations/events they create. Wanting to make oneself right
and others wrong is a motivation that will keep you from
experiencing all your desires and feeling true bliss.
Know at the deepest levels, we create circumstances in life
(that in fact just games we create), to experience a full
range of emotions as well as conditions to allow us to
exercise our invisible power!
I have a request. IF you feel moved to do so, could some of
you send me pictures of Zurich, and of beautiful
things/scenes/mountains/etc for MY dream board! Guess what I
may want to look at each day and vibrate into physical
manifestation! Know all the well. I will be out and with you

Well, Katie, I have some ideas for your vision
board. You say you want some pics of Zurich?
I grabbed that still from a vid on this page, Katie. I thought you
might appreciate revisiting that glorious day in Zurich when the
"ambush" journos from ABC caught up with you.
Or I could send you some screen shots of some of
the horrid things written by a little Teutonic twerp you
unleashed on the world through the Global
Information Network (GIN) -- not just the stuff about me
and about some of the other critical bloggers, but the
hate-filled, anti-Semitic rants as well. Since you have been
playing at being Jewish, Kevin (at least you mentioned to Judge Gettleman that you have
a rabbi), I'm thinking these rants
might not look so good on your vision board. But they are part of
what you helped to create.
For now, please accept the vision board, or dream board, that I made for you my own self, with the help of Google images. It's up there at the top of this post. I know that vision and dream boards are supposed to be about the future, but I think you need to ruminate on your present and recent past as well.
For the rest of you, here's something to consider: no matter how cynical one may be
about all of this, Katie's fans continue to look upon him as a
hero. Every one of those Facebook posts gets hundreds of likes
and at least dozens of comments. One woman, who apparently just
got back from the 2014 Global Information Network (GIN) Family
Reunion in Phoenix (more about that below), wrote:
FAMILY REUNION was Exceptional! You can
be proud of the "Magic 5" and all the "Maple
Syrup" who were there (ask someone who was) [One] man
birthed the dream (ThU KT), AND we would have proven the
Training untrue, if we hadn't Re-Birth bigger & stronger
than before. Mission Accomplished! Onward!
Nice to know that the GINtanic is sailing on
even without Katie at the helm, isn't it?
Another woman had this to say:
I'm living two hour away from Zurich
and I'm watching the mountains right now while listening to
your cd's. the world needs people like you Kevin... the
important is who you become, not what you have. .... time
goes on, get out of there, we have so many wonderfull [sic] things
to do ! don't wayste [sic] your time...
There are no two ways about it: Trudeau still
has a large and loyal fan base -- from all appearances a much
larger and more loyal base than that bitter little German gnome
who used to be his sidekick. And while the posts on Katie's
Facebook fan page are truly eye-rolling, other sources besides
Trudeau and his proxies and long-time loyalists say he really is
in good spirits at Camp Cupcake. (You'll read more about that
soon; I'll be sure to provide a link when it's available.)
I suppose it's possible that Kevin truly has accepted his
fate and is cool with it no matter what. But I'm thinking that
more likely he is just a really good actor, as many sociopaths
are, or he could be basing his seeming tranquility and optimism
largely on his belief that his appeal will actually be
successful. At this point I'm still thinking it won't be, but
we'll know in a few months, and we'll also see if he continues
the Facebook shtick if the appeals process fails him. And
speaking of the appeal (and the case that made the appeal
necessary in the first place)...

It's been quite a while since I did an update here
about Trudeau's court cases; the last post was on July 22, 2014. I've been remiss on my Katie reporting duties for
sure. At any rate, the appeals process for his criminal contempt
conviction is still ongoing and there probably will not be a
decision until some time in 2015. I know you're probably thinking
the same thing I'm thinking: if he's so happy at Camp Cupcake,
why waste any more lawyer money trying to get out sooner? I guess
that's just one of those mysteries of the Universe that only
Kevin knows, and will be glad to share with you if you pay him or
his cronies.
So what's going on, court-wise? Let's take a look...

I also finally downloaded some court transcripts,
although I will have to keep such activities to a minimum
because with actual transcripts, PACER apparently does
not place a 30-page cap on download fees as they do on
other court documents. At ten cents a page, it can get
pretty pricey. I was able to nab this transcript
of Trudeau's criminal trial, which took place in early
November 2013 in Judge Guzman's court. It's a big'un. Here is a Scribd link.

One more thing: My PACER connection is having some glitches so I
haven't been able to download any court documents since late
August. As soon as I get those glitches straightened out I will

GIN rolls on, tries to lure big
spenders back into the fold
Anybody who thinks that Katie's biggest scheme to
date -- GIN -- is dead, has
simply not been paying attention. Granted, it may be a shadow of
its former self, but it's still definitely hanging on, as
indicated by the pics from the big wingding that took place this
past weekend: the 2014 Family Reunion in Phoenix, Arizona. You
can see some of the festivities on one of the GIN Facebook pages.
Troy McClain, CEO of AXS Investment/Management etc.,
the group that bought GIN, hosted
the promo video. And the first thing I
noticed was that it was branding for AXS as much as it was for
GIN. No big surprise there.
And Jeff Devine's Hybrid Group was also very much involved,
judging from this little event blurb on etouches.
As noted on this blog previously, the new
owners of GIN reportedly consist of Troy McClain, Chris
"Voldemort" McGarahan, Blaine Athorn, Jeff Devine and
Greg Kramer.
In case you can't get to the GIN Facebook page I linked to above,
here are some highlights from the weekend:
Looks like fun, huh? And oh, goody, there's going to be a cruise in 2015. And, not to belabor a
point, but even without Kevin, and even though GIN membership is
way down, it still appears that the Family Reunion drew a far
larger crowd than the events put on by certain
GIN ripoff clubs. (Unless, that is, GIN hired a bunch of folks to make it look like a crowd, or used CGI like they do in the movies sometimes.) Just saying.
A reliable source let me know that Troy McClain
and Chris McGarahan have been making serious efforts to get Inner
Circle and upper level members back into the GIN fold; in other
words, they're trying to woo back the big spenders. As you may
recall, Inner Circle members paid either $50k or $75k for that
dubious privilege, with the promise that they would receive a
percentage of the GIN proceeds and other perks. Some of these
people's GIN "investments" were six figures (one former Inner Circle member and Founding Member insists GIN owes him a million dollars). When GIN
nearly collapsed due to Katie's legal troubles, those folks were
out all of that money, and reportedly many quit. Now Troy and Chris
are trying to woo them back, with the promise that GIN will make it a point to get them the moneys owed to them
asap.
Word is that some of these people asked
that their "initiation" and monthly fees be waived for
the appropriate amount of time in lieu of as much of the money
owed as was applicable and GIN said no. Now, it's possible that something in the court order forbade such an arrangement (after all, GIN is beholden to the receiver and the court for the first year under the new ownership), but whether or not that is the case, it sounds pretty sleazy to me.
Troy and Chris are also reportedly pandering to
the Christian demographic to get them to join or re-join GIN, and
some who know Chris find this disgusting, saying that he is about
as far from being a Christian as anyone they know.
At any rate GIN seems poised to grow, and may very possibly
restore the MLM program at some point, though it was discontinued last November (2013). They haven't removed mentions of it from their online
legal documents. For that matter, they haven't removed the statement that GIN is a
multi-level foundation based in Nevis.
Maybe they just need to finish updating their web site.
The moral of the story, once again, is that in Scamworld there are no neat and tidy endings. But I bet you knew I was going to say that.
