A moviemercial whose time has come
Okay, What The Bleep Bloop!? Down The Robot Hole doesn't exist quite yet, but while we're waiting, there's Salty Droid's blog. His videos just keep getting better and better, as demonstrated in his October 4 blog post. Even if you've never heard of any of the players in this video – and to tell the truth, I hadn't heard of many of them until I read his blog – you'll get a kick out of it, if you can suppress your anger at the con that has apparently been going on for a long time.
Now THAT would be an amusing documentary! I'd buy it!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing with the Droid's site right now is, he's really been kicking the hornet's nest like a football the past couple of weeks. The resulting swarm has made following the comments---particularly, separating good, thoughtful comments from screaming mouth-frothers---rather time-consuming. So I've not been paying much attention to them this last go-round.
Like you, I've never had much interest in the industry Salty writes about---ditto most of the New Age folk YOU cover, as a matter of fact---but (much like your blog) it's been an entertaining vicarious ride thus far...
Thanks, Mojo. I agree with you about the foul-mouthed name calling on Droid's site. I've learned to skim over those. I generally go for the long-ish, link-rich comments because they seem to contain the most information and insights. I always read the "hidden" comments too (those voted "loser") because once in a while someone makes a valid point on those, though IMO they are mostly of the troll variety and deserve their hidden status.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your general lack of interest in the IM or New-Wage/McSpirituality industries, but unfortunately it seems that not only are these industries increasingly overlapping, but they are also seeping into more and more aspects of "real" life.
It remains to be seen whether or not the party's just about over for any of these jokers or if they'll just morph into something new and sneakier. Not to let them off the hook in any way, but I still have to go with the sometimes controversial opinion that it's a two-way street. There's a hungry market for the empty dreams these folks sell. It's the hustledorks' bad for for aggressively working to create that market and take advantage of people's desperation, but still...
There's a huge crossover between those mentioned in Salty's expose' and those in the Wimber-lie mafiosa. I appreciate the exposure, though my emotional response has been more quiet sadness than outrage.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I always try to read ALL the comments, too--at least back in the day when there was a manageable number of them!
ReplyDeleteWhen there are a lot of comments I get tired of having to repeatedly click on the links to read the hidden ones. Sigh. I guess it's *MY* fault, for manifesting the Droid into Universal Consciousness, or whatever the hell I did, but not being specific enough with my intentions. I should have requested the universe to create a Droid blog that has a single "Click here to unhide all the hidden comments" button.
Such are the trials of those of us trying to keep track of both lanes of traffic on your two-way street, I suppose. Which is maybe why I spend so much time with the Favorite Husband and the dog, wandering aimlessly in the woods, instead. It's much more pleasant....
