What it also is, is it's the early holy force waves of the rapture causing a reaction from the abode of the Lord of Lies. Good call, Connie!

I will say, as much as I may occasionally make fun of Vitale's products or blog postings when someone draws attention to them, in the Grand Scheme of Things I don't really pay all that much attention to him, or to anyone featured here or on the Droid's site. Perhaps if I were an actual victim I'd feel more passionately one way or another. Like most of 'em, Vitale seems to pretty much just sell snake oil for a living, which makes him less than charming in my book. But--and I have no doubt Connie and most other "haters" would agree here--having a loved one in the hospital isn't a situation I would wish on anyone, regardless of their past or present behavior. It's no fun.

Of course, from what little I see, many of these hucksters don't seem to be above pulling a pity ploy to further their cause. I suspect some of the epic down-and-out dueling drunkalogues they're always touting is something of a pity trigger as well as the standard-issue "look how far I've come" boast. All the disastrous childhoods and broken relationships and whatnot. The last 20 minutes or so of "The Secret" has them all trotting out and intercutting their drunkalogues so much I eventually thought, this HAS to be a parody of some sort. Nope--apparently it's par for the course.

I *DO* feel bad for most of the Law-of-Attraction "happy happy happy thoughts" people I see on the internet because they are so desperately, DESPERATELY positive they remind me of the perpetual optimists who had the misfortune of starring in what has become known as the "Stockdale Paradox"--an observation made by Vice Admiral James Stockdale when he was a POW in Vietnam.

From Wikipedia:

When Collins asked who didn't make it out of Vietnam, Stockdale replied:

"Oh, that's easy, the optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, 'We're going to be out by Christmas.' And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they'd say, 'We're going to be out by Easter.' And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving, and then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart."

Stockdale then added:

"This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—-which you can never afford to lose-—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be."

Stay safe, guys. (And, oh, yes, as you say somewhere else, blessed are the cheesemakers. Which is meant to refer to any manufacturer of dairy products....)mojohttp://www.mojocrap.com/craptacularnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31759120.post-22444896113085761432011-09-12T13:43:34.321-05:002011-09-12T13:43:34.321-05:00"They're really heroes, and some may even..."They're really heroes, and some may even be losing their day jobs because firefighting made them miss some work."

What fucking idiots come up with ideas like that?HHHnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31759120.post-7361426942569280932011-09-12T10:39:18.041-05:002011-09-12T10:39:18.041-05:00[cont'd from above]

And the follow-up email, which was identical to his September 9 blog post, had links to his main Web site and his Zero Limits site.

And of course it's all in the service of pushing his Miracles Coaching boiler-room scam (which my friend said was the topic of several recent "desperation-marketing" emails from him). To a lesser degree this wildfire gimmick is also a promotion of his (and Craig Perrine's?) Attract Miracles Community.

[Although I've heard rumors that things aren't working out so miraculously for Craig and other members of the original Wimberliars Mafia. But it's real.

And it's moving like a wall of fire. [Umm... it IS a wall of fire. ~CC]

Central Texas hasn't had rain in months. It's been ripe for a fire. As I type these words to you, I am jet lagged from the flight and coughing as I've been breathing smoke.

But I'm not concerned about me. [Yeah, right. ~CC] There are hundreds of homes and thousands of acres in danger right now. People are scared.

You can help me do something about this.

Years ago I wrote an email asking people to help me stop Rita, the hurricane that geared up right after Katrina.

I advised people to stop and send love and prayers to the hurricane; to dilute their own fear, find faith, and be a source of peace.

Rita did in fact drop from a category 5 hurricane to a category 2. When it finally blew through my area, it didn't even rain. [His f-----g area WAS NEVER IN ANY DANGER IN THE FIRST PLACE. I know I've written his repeatedly, but as long as he keeps repeating his ludicrous and misleading claims, I am going to repeat the counter-claims. ~CC]

Well, I'm asking for your help with the fires burning around the Austin area. I know it may seem goofy to some, but there are over 25 scientific studies that prove when a group of people meditate together, they can change their surroundings -- just by getting settled inside.

I'm asking you and everyone else reading this to send love, light, prayer, positive thoughts and maybe even rain.

I am asking for the most benevolent outcome in this situation. [Hopefully, one that will involve a huge money op for Joe. ~CC]

I'm asking you to sit, get quiet, and in whatever way you can imagine it, see the fires going out, and see people safe, sound, happy and healthy.

I'm asking you to help me clean on this outer reality representing an inner imbalance.

Together, we can do this.

Obviously, real people need to do real things to help control and extinguish these fires [his one brief nod to reality ~CC], but we can help them by being a source of calm.

I'm not asking for money or muscle; just your concentrated focus so we can attract a preferred outcome. [Not asking for money directly, but that's always on the table. And he'll still beg you for Amazon gift certificates, no matter what. ~CC]

Will you help me?

Just take a deep breath...find that place of peace inside yourself...that place where you know all is well...the center of the essence of you...the Witness behind it all...the power source that is all love...

Get to that area of inner calm...

...and then just feel the fires going out...and people safe...and all is well....

That's all I'm asking you to do.

Love,
Joe

PS -- You can read my original email about hurricane Rita at -- http://www.mrfire.com/article-archives/new-articles/stop-rita.html

PPS - You can read about the scientific studies about group intentions over at -- http://www.attractmiracles.com [And of course I have my own post about those "scientific" studies. http://cosmicconnie.blogspot.com/2009/03/all-i-need-is-miracle.html ~CC]

PPPS - Yes, you are welcome and encouraged to forward and share this email with others. Oh, I have. ~CC]

I love you
I'm sorry
Please forgive me
Thank youCosmic Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09425191794680677900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31759120.post-43527292410396034662011-09-12T10:25:11.358-05:002011-09-12T10:25:11.358-05:00Thanks for your good wishes, BBF, as well as for t...Thanks for your good wishes, BBF, as well as for the characteristically salient points you make about the hypocrisy, inconsistencies, and dodgy ethics of our mutual snarget.

Turns out I was spot-on in my invocation of the "Hurricane Rita" example, which I used not only in my Facebook comments but also in my blog post. Last night a friend forwarded Joe's original "wildfire" email to me -- the email that Joe strongly implied was responsible for the fact that the fires in his area had calmed down and some of his friends were safe.

Due to Blogger's stoopid character limitations for comments, I will continue this in another comment so I can get the entire email in one.Cosmic Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09425191794680677900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31759120.post-62503755453668786012011-09-12T10:20:18.331-05:002011-09-12T10:20:18.331-05:00Thank you, HHH. I hope this crap lets up soon and we get some decent rain.

See, we all really do want the same thing. Except I don't claim any magical powers with intentions that can stop disasters the same way Mr. Fire does.

And to preempt anything Joe might say about my criticism being a reflection of my own inner unconscious patterns as he has been wont to do in the past, I'll just say... it's not really about what I think about things. But I do think we owe it to be congruent and truthful in our communications, especially for a hypnotic communicator like Joe Vitale.

Saying one thing and doing another, or saying one thing to get a sale on one page and saying something completely contradictory on another page to get a completely different sale is unethical at best. And that's my problem.

Alas, our pal Joe has painted himself into so many different corners, I'm not sure what side of the room he's on. So if Joe wants to blame my inability to agree with hypocritical or contradictory statements on my unconscious blocks, please feel free.

Stay safe, Cosmic Connie and Rev Ron.Burned by Firehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16987709295979377535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31759120.post-78389560563997859802011-09-11T17:35:30.274-05:002011-09-11T17:35:30.274-05:00Even I applaud Blue Heron farmers, and it's no...Even I applaud Blue Heron farmers, and it's nothing to do with me.

I went and had a look at your local news site, and those firefighters seem to be getting stuck in and I applaud those too.hhhnoreply@blogger.com
